Supervisor Katrina Foley Releases Statement After Gunman Found Guilty of Murder in Aiden Leos Road Rage Shooting

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley released a statement after a jury found Marcus Eriz guilty of murder in the shooting of Aiden Leos in May, 2021.

“As a mother, I am heartbroken thinking of the horror experienced by Baby Aiden’s family,” said Supervisor Foley. “No one should fear senseless gun violence when driving a child to school. Today’s verdict brings some measure of justice, but true justice for the family would be the chance to hear Baby Aiden’s laugh again.”

On May 21, 2021 six-year-old Aiden Leos of Costa Mesa was shot and killed in a road rage incident by a ghost gun on the 55 freeway in Orange County on his way to kindergarten.

Supervisor Foley, the former Mayor of Costa Mesa, offered $50,000 from district discretionary county funds as an incentive to find the suspects. Supervisor Don Wagner, the City of Costa Mesa, and other local businesses provided funds towards the reward as well.

Last year, Supervisor Foley wrote an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times on the need for national gun reform.
