OC Supervisor Katrina Foley Releases Statement on Passing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA – Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley released the following statement in response to the passing of retired U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

“Today we lost another trailblazer for women. As a young high school student wanting to pursue legal studies, I looked to Justice O’Connor as a model,” said Supervisor Foley. “She broke the glass ceiling wide open, inspiring many women lawyers and elected officials to keep pursuing their dreams even when encountering gender difference obstacles. Justice O’Connor led on difficult issues with a calm, steady, thoughtful demeanor. She valued states' rights and personal freedom. Her legacy of legal work lives on today and we thank her for her contributions to our great country.”

“I extend my condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and law clerks who served with her.”
