SUPERVISOR KATRINA FOLEY ANNOUNCES PUBLIC SAFETY POLICY ADVISOR

Retired Police Chief Dave Snowden brings long-standing track record of law enforcement and public service to the Second District.

SANTA ANA – (District 2) Supervisor Katrina Foley announces the appointment of Newport Beach resident and retired Police Chief Dave Snowden as her Public Safety Policy Advisor.

“I’m grateful Chief Snowden agreed to join our team,” said Supervisor Foley. “His long-standing record of public service in both the US Army and in law enforcement, brings a depth of knowledge and experience.   As we work together to respond to concerns regarding public safety and the challenges related to reentry of incarcerated individuals of the Second District, I know that I can trust Chief Snowden’s judgment, experience, and advice as we partner with our local law enforcement, non-profit, and veterans serving community members. I am confident his leadership skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders will help us to develop innovative workforce development programs, especially those supporting our Veterans.”

“I’ve watched and worked with Supervisor Foley for years, including when she was on the Costa Mesa City Council,” said Chief Snowden. “She’s long been an ally of public safety and support for innovative crime prevention programs, training, especially around sensitivity for working with individuals who suffer from mental illness, and support for community policing.  I’m so honored to have this opportunity to continue to serve, and I believe that together, we can help bring continued change and leadership to the 2nd District.”

Snowden has a forty-nine-year career in law enforcement, including serving eighteen years as the beloved Chief of Police for the City of Costa Mesa, and eleven years as the Chief of Police for the City of Beverly Hills. Snowden is also a veteran of the US Army, and the California State Military Reserve. While serving in his capacity as Chief, Snowden was also active on a wide range of boards, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of Directors of the Hoag Hospital Foundation. 

Snowden has been recognized with numerous awards for his service, including the Beverly Hills Employee Leadership Award, Shom Rim Award, City of L.A. The Jack Webb Award, LAPD Museum, Leadership Award, New Directions for Veterans Foundation, Leadership Award from the O.C Anti-Defamation League, Orange County Volunteer of the Year Award.

Supervisor Katrina Foley represents Orange County’s 2nd District, including Costa Mesa, Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Stanton, the unincorporated area of Rossmoor, and portions of Buena Park and Fountain Valley.
