RIDAY: Supervisor Foley to Hold COVID-19 Memorial with Local Elected Officials, First Responders and Union Leaders

The memorial will recognize the more than 5,000 lives lost to the pandemic in Orange County

 

 

COSTA MESA – On the evening of Friday, June 11^th, Supervisor Katrina Foley (2^nd District) will host a COVID-19 candlelight memorial recognizing the more than 5,000 lives lost in Orange County during the pandemic.

“It is my hope that this evening will give us the opportunity to come together to mourn, reflect and find strength in each other,” said Supervisor Foley.

The memorial is the first in-person COVID memorial to be held by the County, and is scheduled to feature local elected officials, union leaders and healthcare representatives. The event will also feature two musical performances to open and close the ceremony.

Dr. Clayton Chau, Director of the Orange County Health Care Agency
Mayor John Stephens, City of Costa Mesa,

Mike Ramirez, United Food and Commercial Workers (Local 324)
Susan Johnson, Health Ministries & Nursing Outreach (Hoag)
Walter Muneton, Social Worker and Vice President of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education
Julio Robles, Orange County Sheriff’s Department

Performances by:

Richard Adkins, violinist
Violette Remington, vocalist

The memorial is open to the public, and attendees are invited to bring a flower or a photo of their loved ones for the memorial.
